WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
Chemical peels are a highly common and recommended skin treatment—both as a standalone and an “add-on” which involves the application of a customised chemical solution to the skin, prompting a gradual peel of the treatment area and resulting in new, smoother skin. The advantage of consulting with a cosmetic dermatologist, such as Dr. Sagar Gujjar in Skinwood clinic, is ensuring that your skin type, your history of skin treatments, the overall condition of your skin, and your ultimate aesthetic goals are all taken into consideration when determining the best chemical peel to meet your unique needs. Dr. Sagar Gujjar and our experienced team of Skinwood clinic aestheticians use an assortment of peels to treat several chronic skin conditions, such as melasma and hyperpigmentation, as well as acne scars, sun damage, and fine lines and wrinkles. Chemical peels are an excellent means of preparing the skin for laser resurfacing treatments and improving the outcome and viability of those procedures as well.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHEMICAL PEELS AVAILABLE?
Dr. Gujjar offers three types of chemical peels and will determine the best one for your skin after performing a detailed physical evaluation during your skinwood clinic consultation. A brief description of each follows.
PROCEDURE DETAILS
SUPERFICIAL PEELS
A mild chemical peel may include alpha hydroxy acid that gently removes the outermost damaged layer of skin. Rough skin can be beautifully softened and discoloration can be reversed.MEDIUM PEELS
Glycol or trichloroacetic acids are used during a medium peel to remove the outermost layers of skin as well as slightly deeper layers. A medium chemical peel is perfect for addressing freckles, age spots, acne scars, sun damage, aging and poor skin tone.DEEP PEELS
A deep chemical peel makes use of trichloroacetic acid or phenol to remove the damaged layers of skin that muddy the complexion. A deep peel can do wonders for improving the appearance of facial scarring, as well as wrinkles, folds, creases, fine lines and furrows.
